Pat Mesiti – Soaring Higher Pat Mesiti International Motivational Speaker gives you principles to soar higher!
Your future is connected to some people, not all people Isn’t it amazing that when you help others achieve their goals, more than likely you end up closer to your own goals. There is a connection here... people helping each other. It’s called ‘networking’. I have often heard people say, ‘It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.’ It’s a sad fact that people with brilliant gifts don’t always get to fully realise their potential if their talent remains hidden and undiscovered. There are people with incredible singing voices, sometimes more gifted than many of our current pop stars, and yet they never achieve their goals. Why? Often it’s because they weren’t connected with others who could have helped them realise their dreams. It’s about connections. Understand that if you want to expand your life, you have got to stay connected. Life is a bit like a plant. It needs to be connected to the soil for it to be fruitful. It can only grow if it remains connected to the soil because soil provides it with stability, water and nutrients. As you read this book, you may be in a situation in which you need waters of refreshing, new relationships. Well, stay connected. You may need some sunlight, new revelation, insight and inspiration on products, services, staff, relationships... stay connected. You may feel you are surrounded by fertilizer right now. Your life may stink. Just remember, you need to stay connected, to sit through the natural processes of life - including discomfort. Stay connected with the right kind of people in the right environment - the right soil – and once the smell and discomfort has gone, you won’t remember the stench of the fertilizer. Instead you will savour the sweet smell of success... if you stay connected. Andrew Carnegie said that it marks a big step in your development when you realise that other people can help you do a better job than you can do by yourself. After all, you can't whistle a symphony, it takes an orchestra. All of our futures are interconnected, but not to everybody. Our futures are connected to the people that matter in life. A story is told of Billy Graham, one of the most respected and honourable figures in modern history, who one day asked his childhood friend Grady Wilson to join his team. At first Wilson refused because he had a successful organisation himself. But Graham persisted and eventually Wilson made a decision to follow Billy Graham. He set aside his dreams in order to be part of another man’s dream. That decision made a huge difference not only in his life but also in the lives of millions of others. Sometimes in our life we have to pursue a smaller dream in order to fulfil a bigger one. Generally, that dream is tied to one special person or a number of special people. I was very privileged to work alongside a few gifted people who helped me grow the organisations I headed up. I am increasingly thankful that our worlds connected because they helped me build organisations that impacted the lives of thousands through my books, tapes and presentations. My future depends on connecting with a few more people like that. Challenge If you want to build a great life, learn to give yourself to others, to serve others, to honour others. Understand that those people with whom you truly connect will be few, but these few connections will cause a ripple effect. Like a pebble thrown in a pond, your future will affect some people, and through them many others.
